A Constellation of Magic

Scholars and seekers are invited to the first Astrological Magic Conference, taking place September 2nd and 3rd, 2023. This conference will consist of both lectures from top experts in history and practice of celestial talismans, petitions and confections, with practitioners and scholars invited to share their newest discoveries, network with other attendees, and spend time with seekers on similar or very different paths.

What is Astrological Magic?

Astrological magic is a strain of medieval and Renaissance magical practice, which combines the calculation of auspicious astrological timing – called elections – with more familiar magical tools, such as lapidary lore and spirit evocation. This area of study has experienced a massive surge of interest in the early 21st Century, and has led to new ideas, new practices, new seekers, and more access to traditional texts and practices. Our goal in studying this largely forgotten series of connected practices is to advance our knowledge of history, as well as our own personal development and practical benefits.

The conference will be hosted at the historic Lexington Hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection at Lexington Avenue and 48th Street. The Lexington was built in 1929, with all the Art Deco flourishes and design of the Jazz Era. The hotel is close to stores and restaurants, giving attendees access to everything Manhattan has to offer. We have worked to make the lodgings affordable, without cutting corners
